Empowering action through knowledge—for a stronger tomorrow.

Over the past year, our small team has been working directly with Somali institutions to build a digital and physical library of learning resources. These materials are focused on leadership, peacebuilding, and community empowerment—tools that are essential for Somalia’s long-term growth and resilience.

Our Story So Far

What began as a coast-to-coast charity cycle in July 2024—raising our first £1,000—has evolved into an initiative driving grassroots change. That initial funding helped us launch a physical Women, Peace and Security (WPS) resource archive, now in active use by local institutions. Alongside this, we created a digital library using Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) to make WPS materials more accessible, supporting efforts to highlight the importance of gender equality within Somalia and on the global stage.

How Our Work Has Grown

Since then, our focus has expanded beyond WPS to respond to the broader needs of the Somali context. Today, our team supports the development and delivery of educational materials tailored to Somalia’s cultural, social, and political realities. Our researchers are actively engaged in projects that explore the wider East African geopolitical environment, providing analysis and insights that inform policy, learning, and community dialogue.

Why This Matters

Somalia is a resilient nation whose people continue to face deep and overlapping challenges. Decades of conflict, particularly from the ongoing threat posed by Al Shabaab and other militant groups, have left lasting impacts on governance, national stability, and civilian safety. The country faces one of the world’s most complex humanitarian situations, marked by recurrent displacement, chronic food insecurity, and limited access to basic services.

Women and girls remain at the sharpest end of these challenges—disproportionately affected by barriers to education, healthcare, economic opportunity, and legal protection. With one of the world’s highest rates of child marriage and over 90% of women subjected to female genital mutilation (FGM), gender inequality intersects with wider issues of national and international security.

Our Commitment

In response, we’re committed to advancing gender equality and human security through knowledge, education, and advocacy. Our work supports those most affected by providing access to evidence-based resources that strengthen individual and collective resilience.

Through education and open access to information, we aim to empower communities to confront challenges such as terrorism, displacement, climate disruption, and gender-based violence.

This is about more than knowledge. It’s about shifting power, building resilience, and creating space for inclusive development—across Somalia and beyond.
